Introducing Snookers – She’s a Snuggler!

Good News!  Snookers has been adopted!!!

Snookers has been adopted! She doesn’t leave for her new home until March, but her anxiously awaiting family is making sure she will have everything she needs. Snookers, you hit the lottery, girl!

Wanna snuggle? I’m ready if you are.

Do you have room under your covers for a snuggle buddy?  That’s where Snookers is the happiest.  Snuggling with you on the couch is pretty okay, too. At only 12 pounds, she is the perfect snuggling size for just about anyone.

This 18 month old Jack Russell mix is a delight.  She potties outside, is good in her crate for short errands, but, since she loves to ride in the car, she’d be happy to keep you company while you jet around town.

Snookers is cute from any angle!

I’m cute from any angle!

Snookers loves adults, children, and other dogs.  In short, she’s just about perfect!

Snookers has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and has started her heartworm preventive.  If you are interested in adopting Snookers, contact Warm Hearts by clicking on the “Request an adoption form” link on the right side of this page for an application.  Snookers’ adoption fee is $175.00.  Transport to the northeast is available.

Leia – From Abandoned and Starved to Healthy and Happy – ADOPTED!

You can see that Leia was skin over bones. So sad.

You can see that Leia was skin over bones. So sad.

Leia is such a happy girl, as well she should be. Leia was abandoned as a puppy when a family left town. She was spotted by a neighbor, totally starved and literally skin over bone. We’ve included a photo of her at rescue.

Boat rides are a favorite.

Boat rides are a favorite.

Well, that is behind her now. She is a healthy, happy, 12 week old (as of Feb. 3, 2017) labrador retriever mix with a beautiful, shiny coat and a playful, happy disposition.  She’s a healthy 18 pounds now, so we think she will be a large adult dog.

Leia loves being at the lake.

Leia loves being at the lake.

Like all puppies, Leia will benefit from puppy classes. She is such a smart girl that she’s sure to be the star of her class. She knows how to use the doggy door in her foster home, is good in her crate, loves a ride in a boat, and loves her housemates – several other dogs and two cats.

Leia loves her bed and her toys.

Leia loves her bed and her toys.

Leia is all lab puppy – that means lots of energy, chewing during her teething episodes, and jumping for joy when she sees you. Adoptive families should be prepared for all of the fun and turmoil that having a puppy entails.

Because she is so energetic, her family should have older children. Energetic puppies and small children are not a good fit.

If Leia looks like your girl, email Warm Hearts by clicking on the “Request an adoption form …” link on the right side of this page for an application to adopt. That is the first step in the process. Leia’s adoption/vetting fee is $175.00. She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, de-wormed and has started her heartworm prevention.

This stunning 8 month old hound mix is not only handsome, he is sweeter than sweet. Buddy is a bit shy when he first meets a new person, but he quickly warms up and is ready to give goo goo eyes and sweet doggy kisses.

Buddy has such a sweet face. He's a gentle fellow.

Buddy has such a sweet face. He’s a gentle fellow.

Buddy weighs about 40 pounds, so he will be a medium-size adult dog. He loves other dogs and enjoys giving the cat sweet kisses in his foster home. He has such a nice disposition.

Buddy is crate-trained, house-trained, and is learning to walk on a leash. Like all young dogs, he will benefit from puppy classes, and, because he is so eager to please, he’s sure to be the star of his class. He already knows how to sit for his treat!

Buddy will do well in a home that can provide the exercise his breed needs. An active family with older children would be perfect for him.

If Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome has caught your eye, please send email by clicking on the “Request an adoption form …” email link on the right side of this page for an application. That is the first step in the adoption process.

Miller and Chewbacca were special guests at our January 2016 meeting.

Foster pups are always a part of our Warm Hearts’ meetings.  Our first meeting of 2016 was no exception.

Miller, the little black and brindle pup, and Chewbacca, an airedale terrier mix, joined us today.

Chewbacca was most interested in looking for a treat.  When the business portion of the meeting began, both pups found something very interesting outside to focus on.

Welcome to Warm Hearts, Chewbacca!

Chewbacca loves a lap.

Chewbacca loves a lap.

Looking for a 45 – 50 pound lap dog? Chewy is the man.

This young adult airedale mix was recently rescued after being on his own for we don’t know how long.

He needs a few weeks of some “good grits” to get to his optimum weight. In the meantime, he is loving his lap time.  He is a sweetheart.
