Claire has had a rough start to her young life.
Claire was rescued just one day before giving birth to a litter of puppies, was heartworm positive, and has a badly broken hind leg. She has already begun heartworm treatment and is responding very well.
However, Claire’s leg will require special surgery, and Warm Hearts needs help raising the funds for that surgery.
Dr. Dew, a well-known orthopedic surgeon, will perform Claire’s surgery at a discounted cost, but we still need to raise money to help this little 23 pound dog. Claire’s leg will require a plate to join the fractured bones.
The cost of the surgery is $2,259.00!
Donations can be sent to WHHS, PO Box 535, Mount. Ida, AR 71957. If you would like to donate via PayPal for Claire’s surgery, use the “Donate” button on our home page. Warm Hearts Humane Society, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax-deductible.
By the way, Claire’s puppies are all healthy and strong and are available for adoption. Even with that painful leg, Claire was an excellent little mom.
Claire appreciates the help to receive the medical care she needs to lead a normal happy life.
Tails are wagging, cats and kittens are purring, and our hearts are very warm.
Many thanks to the Student Council at the Mount Ida High School in Mount Ida, Arkansas, for choosing Warm Hearts to be the beneficiary of your fund-raiser this fall.
In addition to this wonderful bounty, we also received a very generous monetary donation. Community support means the world to us.
Introducing Hoss….if that joyful puppy smile doesn’t get to you, watching him romp on his short little legs will have you grinning in no time. This 11 week old (as of 10-15-15) puppy is all about playing and having fun. At only 9 pounds, he will probably be a small to medium size adult dog. Breed mix? Well, our best guess is border collie/corgi, but that is simply a guess.
Although Hoss is low to the ground, he is fast as a whip and full of the puppy energy you would expect an 11 week old puppy to have. He is one of a litter of 5 puppies that were born to an injured mama dog who had to be trapped to be saved. She delivered Hoss and his adorable siblings the night she was rescued, so the puppies have been socialized with people and other dogs since they were born.
Hoss is learning to walk well on leash, is being crate trained and is learning a bit about house-training. Like all puppies, he will benefit from puppy classes and basic obedience training. With Hoss’s small size, sharp teeth and energetic breed mix, his new home should have older children that know how to handle small dogs.
If Hoss looks like the puppy you’ve been dreaming of owning, email warmhearts@earthlink.net for an application. That is the first step in the adoption process. Hoss is fully vetted and chipped.

Bono knows how to “sit pretty.”
This adorable 6 month old Basset mix pup is ready to be your rock star. Don’t let those short legs fool you – he can keep up with you whatever your pace is!
Bono is always ready to rock and roll – as in play, play, play. He’s a great little hiker and would love an active family that enjoys lots of outdoor activities. He’s also a grand snuggler and the perfect size to be your couch companion.
Bono has been neutered, vaccinated and chipped. He’s ready for that forever home. Bono is being fostered in Plymouth, MA, so, northeast friends, we can arrange a meet and greet. Email warmhearts@earthlink.net for information on his adoption fees and an application. Watch this little video for more Bono.
If you’ve ever wondered who some of the foster faces are behind our adoptable animals, watch this video and meet some of them. You will see how our pups travel to new homes in the northeast and watch the joy of the families when they see their new family member.

Mr. Chuckles wins the heart of everyone who meets him. This funny 13 month old Cairn TerrierX puppy was left at a kill shelter in our area. As most small dogs are, Mr. Chuckles was terrified of his new environment. It took some of the best shelter volunteers on the planet to help Mr. Chuckles get his confidence back.
Mr. C. is now in foster care in a private home. He is fully vetted, micro-chipped and just waiting for the perfect family to entertain with his antics.
Mr. C. is a small dog, about 15 pounds, so his new home should have children 6 years or older. Many times small dogs and toddlers are not a good fit, and we don’t want the experience for either a new family or for Mr. C.
Email warmhearts@earthlink.net if you would like an application to adopt Mr. Chuckles.
Puddles is 12 pounds of preciousness. Why did we name her Puddles? Well, not because she “piddles,” but because she has perfected the art of turning herself into a little puddle of love in your lap, on her bed, on the floor….anywhere she lands.
What a sweet dog she is. She is Shih-Tzu pup between 8 – 10 months old and loves all people and other dogs. She has not been exposed to cats, but she has such an agreeable personality that we suspect she would be fine.
Puddles is not fond of a leash, but she’s a quiet little girl and would be easy to leash-train or just kept safe in a fenced back yard. Because she is so small, her new family should not have children under 5 years old. Toddler and small dogs are not typically a good match.
Puddles’ adoption/vetting fee is $200.00. Like all Warm Hearts’ dogs, she is completely vetted, including microchip with lifetime registration pre-paid. Transport to the northeast is available.
If you are interested in adopting puddles, email warmhearts@earthlink.net for an application. This is the first step in the process.
Sometimes food comes from the least-expected places….like from a business meeting! Yes, a business meeting.
When Robert Jacuzzi and his associates held a meeting recently at Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa, each participant was asked to bring a bag of dog food for Warm Hearts. And they brought dog food! Look at this bounty.
With over 30 dogs in our foster program, food is a huge expense for us. What a wonderful gift this is. Thank you!
